Why the commercial versions are a non-starter for some people
The idea is genuinely useful and the products are good. But they work by shipping a continuous record of your working life to a third party, which for anyone handling client data under GDPR is a conversation with a DPO you would rather not have. Running it locally removes the question entirely.
Redaction that actually checks
Bank details and ID numbers are stripped before anything is written to storage, validated by checksum rather than pattern guessing, because a pattern match on a Finnish henkilötunnus produces both false positives and false negatives and neither is acceptable.
